Svetoslav Kokalov graduated in scenography at the National Academy of Art in Sofia in 1981. He has designed a score of stage productions, mainly of plays from the world’s classics, on the leading theatre stages of the country. He is the winner of the most prestigious Bulgarian awards for scenography. For the last 15 years he has been dividing his time between the theatre and his teaching at the National Academy of Art in Sofia. As a teacher and a scholar he examines the influence of new media on theatre. He is in charge of both traditional stage projects and students’ productions integrating live performance, kinetic vision and sound. He has been experimenting with digital video art since 2002.
